This is the place we called home for forty-two years. After Russell had taught school for twelve years (I didn’t teach after we were married since at that time married teachers were seldom hired due to the scarcity of jobs) we decided to buy a farm. By this time we had two sons and we liked the idea of bringing them up on a farm as we were both from farm families and we appreciated the independence and the atmosphere of farm living. Our third son was born here. They seemed to have learned the work ethic as they left the farm and worked their way financially as well as scholastically, each of them earning his doctoral degree. The Amish moved into our territory and wanted to buy our farm. We sold it in 1983. The farm has changed radically since then.
